First Family joins Rutsiro fans

The crowd at Gisiza campaign site broke lose with deafening applause as the first family arrived at exactly 13h10 for the occasion.

Shouts of "tuzagutora, ni wowe" defined the moment as the RPF flag bearer waved at the crowd. He was accompanied by the First Lady, Jeannette Kagame and some of their children.

The First Lady later joined Kagame on the podium for a dance as local artists, Alpha Rwirangira, Kitoko and Tuyisenge, entertained the crowd estimated at 100,000.

The President got to the podium at exactly 14h10 and urged the cheering crowd to choose wisely. "Opt for good leadership. This is a moment to appreciate Rwanda’s achievements" he said as the fans went wild.

"Your choice should be based on the need for development not on other things," he said.

Ndayisaba Fidele, the RPF Campaign manager, thanked the fans for choosing to support a candidate who has championed the country’s development.

One local resident only identified as Godance told the gathering how upon return from exile, she got reintegrated into the community. She is now a leader at district level and has managed to educate her five children.

In her own words, she said: "nukuri tuzabwira abagabo bacu nabana twese tuzagutora".

One of the president’s acclaimed pledges was to develop the Karongi road. "Even this poor road will be repaired," Kagame said as the crowd went wild in appreciation of the offer.

The First Family also traveled back for about 40 km to join fans at Rubengera rally in Karongi District. View pictorial
